A+ CMV neg donors…
Posted on October 20th, 2007 at 8:43 pm by Jamie

We are in desperate and urgent need of those people who know for sure that they are A+ and CMV negative. It is suggested that those who have donated for Parker before, and have received the official letter from the blood centers stating your status, donate for him.

It would be ideal to have 7 donors that could donate white blood cells once a week. We know that it is a lot of anyone. The reason why we would like only 7 is to limit the exposure of antibodies that he receives. This would also cut down on possible reactions that he might have.

The donor process consists of the following: The donor goes to the Florida Blood Centers headquarters on the corner of John Young Pkwy and Sand Lake Rd. They will take a sample of your blood and test to be sure that you are still CMV-. You will then have an IV put into both arms (like old day platelet donations). They extract your blood – take out the white cells – and then give you your blood back. The process takes about 3 hours. The cells are then rushed over to Parker and he’ll get them through is broviac.

It is imparative that the donor is CMV- as we do not want to have him exposed to that virus.

The donor also has to have good veins (platelet donating veins are considered best).

**If you absolutely know that you are A+ and CMV- but have not donated for Parker before, you still could. They would just need you to come to their center and you would have to be willing to wait for your status.

If you are interested in this – please let me know immediately as we need to start making appointments. Appointments will be done in the morning and the first one open is Monday somtime between 10am-11am. Just leave a comment with your phone number and I’ll call you (I won’t post these comments).

Thank you for considering this!!
